It’s the last Friday of the month and that means we are featuring one of our designers at TGIF Challenges. I am thrilled that my good friend, Elizabeth Price, is this month’s Designer Spotlight. I’ve know her for several years and I’m always in awe of her creations. Be sure to check out her blog to see for yourself.
Elizabeth is a master of layering various papers and her use of accessories is always spot on. You can click HERE to see the card I chose to CASE. When I saw what she did with the Hexagon embossing folder, I knew I had to try it myself. For the background, I started by embossing Shimmery White card stock with the Hexagons embossing folder and the Big Shot. I lightly rubbed my Basic Black ink pad onto the folder before running it through the machine to create the black outlines.
I thought that the hexagons resembled the scales on a fish or a mermaid’s tail, so I selected 3 colors that would look iridescent when combined: Pacific Point, Emerald Envy, and Perfect Plum. An Aqua Painter was used to color the hexagons and the Magical Mermaid image. The tail was a blend of the colors and was brushed with the Clear Wink of Stella to make it shimmer.
If you haven’t fallen in love with the Birthday Memories Suite yet, I think that today’s card may push you over the edge. How cute are these poodles? There are two 12″ x 12″ sheets of the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper covered in poodles, plus one of the die cuts will cut out the main poodle image perfectly.
The greeting is from the Birthday Delivery stamp set and it was stamped in Real Red ink onto Whisper White card stock. I used the Big Shot and the Layering Circles Dies to cut out the Whisper White circle and the Real Red Scallop Circle. To accessorize the card, I tied on some Basic Black 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon and added a few Real Red Enamel shapes.
