Sharing Another Passion: Essential Oils

Roller Bottles

Most of my regular blog readers know that in addition to my crafting, I also work as a Doctor of Chiropractic.  Therefore, I am always interested in anything that can help my family, friends, and patients.  We have used essential oils in our practice sporadically for over 10 years.  However, I’ve decided within the past year to really learn more about using oils and implementing them into our everyday lives.

So yesterday, I posted the picture above to show some of the roller bottles that I have made to get us ready for back-to-school.  Let’s just say there was a good response to the post and a lot of questions that were difficult to answer with just a comment.  I promised to share the instructions for making the roller bottles and the exact “recipes” that I used for each formula.

I personally use Young Living Essential Oils, so you’ll find that some of the blended oils may be different if you use another brand. The best way to get started with Young Living is to sign up as a member to receive discounts and rewards. You can sign up by clicking HERE and my member number is 10892376. A starter kit will provide you with many of the oils I use in my roller balls, as well as many other fabulous products to try.
In addition to the oils, you will need glass roller bottles and a carrier oil to dilute the essential oils.

Fractionated Organic Coconut Oil: http://amzn.to/2fFyj0U

Directions: Place labels on bottles first. Fill the bottles about 2/3 full with Coconut Oil. Add drops of essential oils as indicated. If needed, add more coconut oil to fill bottle, allowing space for roller ball top. Place top and shake before use.

And here are the essential oil blends I am using:

FOCUS: 5 Drops Orange, 5 drops Peppermint. I use this for homework time, placing it on her wrists and allowing her to breathe it in.  I may also diffuse this blend while we do homework.
MUSCLE RUB: 10 Drops Peppermint, 10 Drops Wintergreen, 5 Black Pepper, and 5 Clove. Perfect for minor muscle aches. Rub directly on sore muscles.
HEALTHY SKIN: 10 Drops Lavender, 10 Drops Cedarwood, and 10 drops Tea Tree. I apply this directly to my skin in the morning before my moisturizer. There is a noticeable difference in my skin’s appearance when I use this versus when I forget.
HEADACHE HELPER: 6 Drops Lavender, 10 Drops Peppermint, and 5 Drops Frankincense. I rub this on my wrist, neck, and temples if I have a headache or neck pain.
ALLERGY RELIEF: 10 Drops Eucalyptus, 10 Drops Lavender, and 10 Drops Frankincense. Roll on bottom of feet, wrists, and near nostrils. Use consistently several times a day for best results. (Alternative: 10 drops Lavender, 10 Drops Lemon, and 10 Drops Peppermint–be careful using peppermint near the nose and eyes as it can be irritating to the delicate tissues)
ITCH STICK: 5 Drops Lavender, 5 Drops Purification, and 3 Drops Peppermint. I’m still recovering from a few mosquito bites and this really helps stop the itch.
Let me know if you try any of these blends and how they have worked for you.   Feel free to leave a comment below if you have any questions.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy Oiling!
