Bucky
This is Bucky.  He is my stamp studio mascot.  I'm not a big fan of dead animals hanging on a wall, but I tolerate Bucky pretty well.

My husband went on his first hunting trip a few years after we were married.  That first day, he shot a doe in the morning and Bucky met his fate later that evening.  Thankfully, my husband only had beginner's luck and we don't have a house full of these things.

A few years later, Bella came along and I had to give up my stamp room so that she could have a nursery/bedroom.  The only option for me was to share a room with Bucky.  See how he is glancing off in one direction?  Yeah, that's my desk area.

When I saw the Remembering Christmas stamp set, I had to have it.  I knew it would be perfect for masculine cards plus it definitely resembles Bucky, don't you think?

I created this card using another sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  The Designer Series Paper is called Sweater Weather.  I cut a piece of the Burlap ribbon in half lengthwise to create one of the flags at the top.  I think it adds a nice rustic touch.

  1. I love this, Melissa! That mix of dsp and the burlap all go so well with that stamp. I have to say I like the Bucky on the card much better than the one on the wall. 🙂 FYI — your link wasn’t working on the FMS site.

  2. Ok, Melissa, I was laughing so hard at this especially that Bucky is looking at your desk. I grew up with a fellow much like this in my home so I understand. Great card and yes, he does resemble Bucky! Your other link is fixed, btw. Glad you joined us this week!!

  3. There is so much to love about this card Melissa! A great back story! Fabulous colors and textures! And an awesome stamped image! Thanks so much for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!

  4. This makes me think of my childhood. lol We had a Bucky (well, a few of them actually) on our walls as well. I am totally getting this set to make cards for my dad. 🙂 Fabulous card and awesome story!
