Garden Girl FMS296

It’s hard to believe that my youngest will be headed back to school in 2 weeks.  This summer has just flown by!  One of the things that I enjoy about the summer break is that I don’t have to fix a school lunch every morning.  By the end of the school year, it becomes the chore that I despise the most.  Bella asked me very nicely in the last week of school to enclose some cute notes in her lunch.  After I finished laughing hysterically, I told her it just wasn’t going to happen.  That is something I tend to do at the beginning and middle of the year only!  Yes, I’m a pretty good mom at the start of a school year and I’m rather awful by the end.  So today’s card is the first one I’ve made that will go in her lunchbox.  She loves the new Garden Girl stamp set so I knew it would be perfect.

I used this week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches for the layout.  The background paper is from the Just Add olor Specialty Designer Series Paper.  This paper contains 6 different designs on heavyweight 12″ x 12″ card stock that is perfect for coloring.  However, I chose to leave it black and white to make the little Garden Girl image stand out even more.  The sentiment is from the Layering Love stamp set.

For the Garden Girl, I stamped her onto Whisper White card stock and fussy cut the entire image.  Next, I stamped her onto various colors of card stock and cut out the individual elements before gluing them onto the Whisper White image.  As a a final step, I added some Watercolor Pencils and an aquapainter to add some dimension to her dress, hair, skin, and various other elements.  She is definitely a cutie!

  1. This is SO sweet!! I love the sentiment with that charming little girl – and the black and white background is a great look with it. Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.
