Okay, I'm in trouble!  Monday is normally my day to get the household chores done….laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping…..whatever needs to be done.  However, last week I stumbled upon this website called SVGcuts and let's just say, that nothing has gotten done around my house since.  I fed my kids chicken nuggets tonight and soon they will be wearing dirty clothes.   Mother of the Year right here!

Instead, I have spent a lot of time putting the finishing touches on my Gingerbread & Halloween houses.  I am absolutely loving these little houses!  I used the SVGcuts Peony Cottage file for the pattern and cut everything with my Silhouette Cameo using Stampin' Up! card stock and Designer Series Paper.

Gingerbreadhouseside
For the Gingerbread house, I glittered the rooftop with Dazzling Diamonds and added the wreath accents to the windows.  The paper is called Season of Style DSP.

Halloweenhouse
I love to decorate for Halloween and this house is going to be the perfect addition to my decor.  The Witches' Brew washi tape, Designer Series Paper, and Black Stampin' Glitter are new products from the Holiday catalog.  And did you see the little guy peeking out the window?

Did you miss the Victorian Cottage?  Check it out in this post.

A neat thing about these houses is that the roof is removable.  This means I am able to put some battery operated tea lights inside to light up the houses.  Pretty cool, huh?  I've got more pics of the houses lit up on my Facebook page.  Be sure to LIKE it while you're there!

I hope you've enjoyed this fun project.  If you have any questions, just leave me a comment below.  I'll try to answer them there…..in between loads of laundry.  ;0)

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. The title of your blog post cracked me up before I even opened the page. Too funny! Yeah, and been there – done that! That’s OK kids like fast food better anyway. Your cottages are fabulous! Love them all! Now all I have to learn is that e-cutting thing.

  2. You’re probably really doing your kids a favor. Maybe they’ll get inspired to learn how to do their own laundry, and that’s an important life skill for them to learn. 🙂 Besides, it’s so worth it to wear dirty clothes when you have these cute projects sitting around your house. Love them, Melissa!

  3. LOL! I think I may be nominated for Mother of the Year too, I sometimes feed my son Ramen Noodles so I can squeeze in a bit more craft time! Your houses are absolutely adorable!
