Black and White Cards

Happy New Year! The TGIF Challenges team is back with a classic color combination for our first challenge of the year: black & white! I will usually add a pop of color to my black and white cards, so this was a bit challenging for me. However, there is a new Designer Series Paper called True Love that features all black & white designs. I was able to get it to do the creative heavy lifting for me!

Card Measurements

  • White: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ for card base
  • White: 3-3/4″ x 5″
  • Basic Black: 4″ x 5-1/4″
  • DSP: 1-3/4″ x 5″ and 3/4″ x 5″

I began by stamping the sentiment in black ink onto the lower right corner of the White card stock layer. The sentiment is from a new stamp set called Approaching Perfection. This stamp set is part of our Sale-a-Bration offering and will be available for FREE with a qualifying $50 purchase from January 5–February 28, 2021.

Next, I layered on my 2 strips of True Love Designer Series Paper. With 12 different black and white patterns, you could create endless combinations of patterns on this card. Then, I layered the White piece onto Black card stock before adhering the whole thing to the White card base.

So, what about that floral spray? Well, that is a flower that was cut from one of the patterns in the True Love Designer Series Paper. I used my ScanNCut to cut them out, leaving no border. It might be hard to tell from the photos, but I used a Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend along the edge of the image to help it stand out on the card more. It gives a light shadow effect. The final touch is a few of the Matte Black Dots which are part of the Love You Always Suite.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy stamping!
