This past week, I have been taking an online class from Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner called Crushing on Cardstock. It was all about how to creatively use colored cardstock in your cardmaking. I’m still trying to work through the lessons, but I loved the very first one. I’ll be sharing my Halloween versions of the techniques today and tomorrow I’ve got some really bright cards to show you that were inspired by another recent training event.

I am a big fan of sketch challenges and one of my favorites (that I don’t design for) is Freshly Made Sketches. They are celebrating their 500th sketch which is a huge accomplishment! I definitely had to play along to celebrate this milestone.

For both cards, I began by cutting 1/2″ strips of cardstock in Basic Black, Granny Apple Green, Gorgeous Grape, and Pumpkin Pie. These are my go-to Halloween colors. On the chevron panel, I also threw in some of the Be Dazzling Specialty Designer Series Paper from the Sale-a-Bration Brochure. Did you know you can get this paper FREE with a $50 qualifying order during August and September? Creating the patterns was really easy! If you are interested in learning more, I highly recommend the class.

To embellish the cards, I used greetings and die cuts from the Frightfully Cute bundle. The ghosts were fussy cut from the Cute Halloween Designer Series Paper. I also added a few of the Cute Stars Adhesive-Backed Sequins to add a little sparkle.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
