I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for this long holiday weekend. I’ve been in desperate need of some downtime. But first, there is a new challenge over at TGIF Challenges. It’s a Designer Take Over by my good friend, Bree Renwick! She is challenging us to use Stampin’ Blends and I was definitely up to this challenge. I’ve combined vellum and Stampin’ Blends to create a gorgeous watercolor background for today’s card.

On page 136 of the Stampin’ Up! annual catalog, you’ll find Vellum Cardstock. It is always in my crafty stash but I don’t use it very often. For today’s card, I scribbled a variety of Stampin’ Blends on the back of the vellum card stock, then used some alcohol to blend the colors. It creates a beautiful watercolor effect.

Using the alcohol and the blends on the vellum caused the paper to curl a bit, so I had to place it under a heavy book for awhile to flatten it. Once it was flatter, I stamped the sentiment from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set in Versamark ink onto the front of the vellum. Next, white embossing powder was sprinkled over the top then melted with a heat tool. Again, my vellum curled a bit so back it went under the book.

Once my vellum was flat again, I cut out the center section and layered it onto some Pattern Party Designer Series Paper. Finally, a few Matte Black Dots and some Playful Pets twine were added for embellishment. The “enjoy it” was heat embossed on Basic Black cardstock. It is part of a larger sentiment stamp from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set.

Thanks so much for stopping by! You’ll find the complete list of supplies below.
