In Color Highlights

Hi everyone and welcome to another great blog hop from the Control Freak Stampers! You may have arrived here from Lisa Martz’s blog. I’ll have your next link at the bottom of this post. The theme this month is In Color Highlights and I’ll be sharing some slimline cards created with the Press On stamp set.

The new Press On stamp set is so cute and I thought it would be fun to give it a pop of color. This year’s IN Colors work so well together. For the first card, I stamped the coffee cup image in Black Memento ink onto Whisper White cardstock and on Bumblebee and Cinnamon Cider Designer Series Paper. I cut the papers apart and pieced them together to create the image you see above. A little stamping and some well-placed strips of Designer Series Paper complete the card. If you’d like to see my tips on the embossed greeting, check out this post.

What is a Slimline Card?

You’ve probably seen this unusual size of card popping up everywhere. These fit perfectly in your legal envelopes and it’s just a fun size to mix things up in your crafting. I cut my cardstock base to 7″ x 8-1/2″, scoring at 3-1/2″, to make a 3-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ card.

A similar paper-piecing technique was used for this card. I stamped in Black Memento ink onto Whisper White and Crumb Cake cardstock, then pieced the cups together. Next, I stamped the heart images with each of the new IN Colors, cut them out, and popped them up with dimensionals. The strips of 2020-2022 IN Color Designer Series Paper create a rainbow background that really highlights these amazing colors.

You’re next stop on the tour is Cindy Elam’s Hearts Delight Cards. I’m sure she’ll wow you with her amazing work!
