Hi everyone and welcome to another great blog hop from the Control Freak Stampers! You may have arrived here from my good friend Wendy Weixler’s blog. Our theme for this month is “Thanks and Gratitude” and my cards for today feature the Sparkle of the Season bundle.

As some of you already know, I was diagnosed with a rare & unusual cancer recently. Last week, I underwent surgery to have the tumor removed and I’m happy to say that no further treatment will be necessary at this point in time. I’m recovering well and ready to put this experience behind me. There will be repeat testing every 3 months for basically the rest of my life, so I know there is always a good chance that it could return. However, I’m grateful for every day I get to wake up and be able to live.

I created these cards a couple of months ago and they fit our theme perfectly. There was a third card made for Halloween and I’ll share it on my Instagram account if you’d like to see it. This stamp set is so versatile and can be used for many different occasions. Be sure to add it to your next Stampin’ Up! order.

For the “Grateful” card, I began by die-cutting 2 wreaths from Smoky Slate and Pear Pizzaz cardstock. The pinecone image was stamped in Early Espresso ink onto Crumb Cake cardstock, then die cut. All the pieces were adhered to a Basic White card panel, layered onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock. The black and white gingham paper is from the Host Pattern Party Designer Series Paper stack. It’s definitely one of my all-time favorite papers! To complete the card, I added a gingham bow and the stamped greeting.

On the “Thankful” card, I die cut this gorgeous wreath with leaves from the Be Dazzling Specialty Paper. This paper was only available during the last Sale-a-Bration, but I think the Gold & Rose Gold Metallic Specialty Paper would be an excellent substitute. I colored the leaves with Stampin’ Blends to give this card a true Autumn feel. For the card base, I used Cinnamon Cider cardstock and added a layer of Blackberry Beauty Specialty Designer Series Paper for some interesting texture.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today! You’re next stop on the Control Freaks tour is Melissa Davies. I’m sure she’ll wow you with her amazing work!
