Blackberry Beauty: #TGIFC333 Sketch Challenge

Happy Friday everyone! It’s time for one of my favorite challenges of the month: the TGIF Challenges Sketch Challenge. This isn’t even my week to participate, but I also needed a card for the monthly Instahop on Instagram. You could say that I’m killing 2 birds with one stone. I combined the sketch layout with the Fall Leaves & Foliage theme of the Instahop to create this card with the Blackberry Beauty Designer Series Paper, Gorgeous Leaves bundle, and sentiment from the Pretty Pumpkins stamp set.

Blackberry Beauty Card Measurements

  • Cinnamon Cider cardstock: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″
  • Blackberry Bliss cardstock: 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″
  • Basic White cardstock: 2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″
  • Blackberry Beauty Designer Series Paper: 3 strips measuring 1″ x 4-1/4″

To create today’s card, I began by measuring 1/2″ from each side of the Cinnamon Cider card base. I use a pencil to make light marks for reference and I made another mark at the 2-3/4″ line (mid-point). These marks help me position my strips of Designer Series Paper properly. I also like to adhere these strips with a liquid glue to give me a little “wiggle” room.

For the focal point, I began by die-cutting a large leaf from the Gold Foil. Next, I tied a small piece of linen thread around the stem. The greeting from the Pretty Pumpkin stamp set was stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink near the bottom right corner of the Basic White cardstock. I used the splatter stamps with the Blackberry Bliss and Cinnamon Cider inks to create an interesting background for the leaf die cut (stamp off first for best results). The final step was to adhere the leaf and the focal point panel to the card with Dimensionals.
