Welcome to the Control Freaks monthly blog tour! This month’s theme is Holiday catalog products. Oh, my! There is so much goodness in this new catalog, that I can’t wait to see what my fellow freaks have created! If you started at the beginning of the tour, you just visited the very talented, Amy Koenders. She always has amazing ideas and I find her so inspiring!
My favorite stamp set from the Holiday catalog is Cookie Cutter Christmas. I just can’t get enough of that little gingerbread man! Even better, this set has a a coordinating punch so no fussy cutting is necessary. I paired the stamp set with the Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper to create this Christmas Advent calendar. I’ve seen many wooden versions of this type of calendar and could not wait to try and make one with Stampin’ UP! products exclusively.
The numbered cubes were made with White Gift boxes that will be available in the Holiday catalog on September 1st. These measure 3″ x 3″ x 3″ and are food safe. Can’t you just imagine filling them with cookies for a fun gift? I cut 2-3/4″ squares of the Designer Series Paper and adhered them to each side of the boxes. The numbers were die cut with the Big Shot and Large Numbers framelits from Early Espresso card stock.
To embellish the stand, I stamped “days til Christmas” with the Labeler alphabet onto Whisper White cardstock with Early Espresso ink. The gingerbread man was stamped in Crumb Cake ink onto Whisper White card stock and embellished with Real Red Enamel Shapes.
I’ll be sharing another version of this calendar, as well as the template in a future blog post. You won’t believe how easy these are to make!
