Birthday Cheer

Control Freaks Welcome

Welcome to the Control Freaks Blog Hop for February!

This month we are sharing project ideas featuring birthday cards for Littles: boys, girls & babies.  You may have just visited the blog of Cindy Elam.  She always has such inspiring ideas!  Be sure to scroll all the way down to the end to continue on the blog tour.

For my main project, I used the Birthday Cheer stamp set and Detailed Birthday Edgelits Dies along with elements form the How Sweet It Is suite. The greeting was stamped in Versamark ink onto Basic Black card stock, then heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Next, I die cut the greeting with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies and layered a second Melon Mambo die-cut rectangle behind it. As a final touch, I added some Coastal Cabana/Granny Apple Green Reversible Ribbon and a cupcake image from the How Sweet It Is Designer Series Paper.

When I think of making cards for kids, I always want to use bright, eye-catching colors. The colors in the How Sweet It Is Designer Series Paper were my inspiration for this project. I used Granny Apple Green, Pineapple Punch, Gorgeous Grape, Coastal Cabana, and Melon Mambo to create a fun, pop-up element for the inside of the card. The row of gifts was die-cut from all the colors plus Whisper White. I cut the individual gifts apart and then adhered different colors to the Whisper White die cut.

Although it looks complicated, it is super easy to create a Pop-Up card. I’ll have the video for this card on my YouTube channel later this week. Because I had more die cuts leftover, I also created a simpler version in case you are short on time.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Your next stop on this blog tour is my good buddy, Melissa Davies. I’m sure she’ll be blowing us away with another amazing project this month.
