Simple to Stepped Up

Hi everyone and welcome to another great blog hop from the Control Freak Stampers! The theme this month is “Simple to Stepped Up”. I used my July customer Thank You cards (above) that feature the Modern Heart stamp set as inspiration for my 2 samples today. You may have arrived here from Wendy’s blog and I’ll have your next link at the bottom of this post.

The measurements for both cards are exactly the same.

  • Lovely Lipstick Card Stock: 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5-1/2″
  • Basic Black Card Stock: 3-1/2″ x 5-1/2″
  • Whisper White Card Stock: 3″ x 5″

On the simple card, I began by stamping the heart outline and sentiment in Black Memento ink. Next, I stamped off with Lovely Lipstick ink before stamping the “watercolor wash” stamp. Then, I stamped the smallest heart full strength in Lovely Lipstick ink randomly over the card. The layers were adhered with SNAIL adhesive and Dimensionals.

For the stepped up version, I once again started with stamping the Heart outline image in Black Memento ink. Then, I took the smaller “watercolor wash” line stamp and inked it up in Lovely Lipstick ink. Starting at the bottom of the heart, I began stamping the line, repeating as I went up without reinking to create an ombre effect. I added more of the small hearts with Lovely Lipstick ink. The greeting was stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock, then punched with the 1-1/2″ circle punch.

The small details are what really steps up the game for this card. I added Clear Wink of Stella over the heart image to make it super sparkly, tied on some White Baker’s twine, and added a few Heart Epoxy Droplets.

You’re next stop on the tour is Julie Davison at Julie’s Stamping Spot. I’m sure she’ll wow you with her amazing work!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
