Flamingo Tropical Escape Starburst Background
I couldn’t put the Fabulous Flamingo stamp set away without trying out a fun technique. The Starburst Background technique uses diagonally-cut strips of pattern paper to create a visually appealing backdrop for your focal point. Take a look at the video tutorial to see this technique in action.
Today’s card features the Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper. During July 2018, this paper pack is included in the Buy 3, Get 1 FREE sale through Stampin’ UP! I’ve included links for all of the supplies at the bottom of this post.
The flamingo image was stamped in Flirty Flamingo, Blushing Bride, and Black Memento inks using the Stamparatus. This tool makes it easy to get perfect placement when using multiple stamps to create an image. I cut the image with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits to create the partial circle. The greeting was stamped onto a scrap piece of Blushing Bride cardstock, then cut to fit the circle.
For the starburst background, I cut the strips into 2″ x 6″ before using the paper trimmer to cut the strips on the diagonal. I layered the starburst background onto a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Shaded Spruce card stock and then onto a Blushing Bride card base.

so many scraps can see this whittling down the pile. Have seen this concept before but not with the quarter inch in between the strips…really like it
thanks patti
