Magical Day Mermaid

Magical Day Mermaid
I’m pretty sure that I let out a squeal of delight when I first saw the Myths & Magic Suite in the Occasions catalog.  My daughter is such a girly-girl and loves anything with unicorns, princesses, and mermaids.  This set was made for kids like her and I’m sure I’ll be using it for lots of birthday cards this year.  For today’s card, I used a layout inspired by this week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

The background was created with Brusho Crystal Colour and an Aqua Painter on Watercolor Paper.  I’ll have a video about this background uploaded this week.  It’s amazing how little of the product I used (and only 2 colors) to create several different effects.  I’ll be sharing those, too!  With the Big Shot and the “wave” dies, I cut little openings into the background so that the Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper could peek through.  I added a few glimmer paper “bubbles’ as well.

The greeting was stamped with Versamark ink, then heat embossed with White Embossing powder.  There are dies to cut out the banner piece, mermaid, and sea horse images.  The mermaid and sea horses were stamped with Black Memento ink before being die cut.  I colored the images with a variety of Stampin’ Blends and added a touch of Wink of Stella to give it some sparkle.
