Mingling with Fabulous Flamingos

Fabulous Flamingos

We had an incredibly gloomy weekend in Indiana, so that meant a lot of time indoors and stamping.  Have I mentioned that my daughter absolutely LOVES flamingos?   It’s her favorite animal because “it’s pink and goofy”.   We’ve got some flamingo pictures from the Spring that I need to scrapbook, so I added the Fabulous Flamingos stamp set to my last order.  It pairs very nicely with the Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper.  I’ll be sharing a few more projects featuring this paper before the end of the month.  (It’s on special for buy 3, get 1 free until July 31)

This week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches inspired the layout.  I started with a Whisper White card base measuring 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5-1/2″.  Next, a  1″ x 5-1/2″ strip of the Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper was added to the left side of the card base.  And finally, the main Whisper White panel is popped up with dimensionals  and measures 3-3/4″ x 5-1/2″.

To stamp the flamingo image requires 3 separate stamps with a combination of Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo, and Black Memento inks.  I found that using the Stamparatus for placement was very helpful.  A bit of grass and a palm leaf were stamped in a coordinating shade of green called Granny Apple Green.  The sentiment was stamped in Black Memento ink.  Again, the Stamparatus was a great tool for making sure it was stamped correctly the first time.

After all the stamping was complete, I used the Big Shot and the Tufted Embossing folder to create the subtle embossing you can see in the photo above.  Always stamp first before embossing, otherwise your images may not be as crisp.  I added Clear Wink of Stella to the flamingo body to give it a bit of shimmer and a few pink pearls from the Share what You Love Artisan Pearls.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

You’ll find a complete list of supplies at the end of this post.

That’s a fabulous flamingo stamp. I love that you paired it with some grass and greenery – and I love the look of the embossing folder behind it all! Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.
