I am such a sucker for Halloween and I love making Halloween cards. Today I’m sharing 3 cards created with the Scary Cute bundle from the 2022 July-December Mini Catalog. The Scary Cute stamp set contains a nice mix of silhouette images and fun greetings. Combined with the Scary Silhouette dies, this bundle allows for a wide range of stamping techniques from simple to advanced.

For this first card, I kept it very simple. I started with 3, 1/2″ strips of Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, and Basic White cardstock to give a candy corn effect. The silhouette of the trick-or-treaters was stamped in Black Memento ink above the strips onto Crumb Cake cardstock. For the greeting, I heat embossed white powder onto Basic Black cardstock and used the coordinating dies to cut it out. The layout was inspired by the sketch below.

The second card features a masked and ink-blended background. I began by die cutting a circle from masking paper and placing it on the Basic White cardstock. I started applying Crushed Curry ink with a blending brush around the circle then worked outward with Tahitian Tide and Starry Sky inks. A final blend with black ink over the card and some flicks of white craft ink complete the night sky. Lastly, I stamped the bats and little boy silhouette and added the haunted house die cut.

The final Scary Cute card is a shaker card. It required several layers of die cutting to make the shaker: a full large label of Basic White card stock and Window Sheet, a Basic Black cat, and a Basic Black Tree label (requires 2 cuts). The Basic White background layer was ink blended in a similar fashion to the second card. I used the For Everything green sequins to fill the shaker.

Check out these Halloween cards, too!

  1. Your parade of trick or treaters is as cute as it gets! I love your use of the slightly textured neutrals with the pop of color in the stripes. Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.
