We made it to Friday! This has been a long week. Perhaps its the anticipation of the new annual catalog launch next week? I always feel like there is so much to do! But first, I had to participate in the Designer Take Over at TGIF Challenges. Charlet Mallett inspired us with an ombre challenge and we delivered some gorgeous cards! You simply must check them out here and play along with us. My cards feature cardstock strips that were die cut with the new Basic Borders Dies. You’ll be able to order these on May 4, 2021.

Basic Borders Dies Cards: Tips & Tricks

First, my golden ombre card features 7 colors of yellow darkening into orange and rust. I used the border die that has an unusual stitched scallop. If anyone knows the actual name for this type of border, let me know. The Stampin’ UP! colors used in order are: So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Bumblebee, Crushed Curry, Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie, and Cajun Craze. I tied off the top with some Bumblebee gingham ribbon and stamped the greeting with a sentiment from the Simply Succulents stamp set.

Next, this zig-zag border is my absolute favorite! I knew I would be able to create a herringbone pattern by die-cutting both sides of a 1″ strip of card stock. The Stampin’ UP! colors used on this card are: Soft Sea Foam, Mint Macaron, Soft Succulent, and Evening Evergreen. I added the stamped and colored succulent image from the Simply Succulent stamp set. The greeting was embossed with white embossing powder, then die cut with the Potted Succulents dies.

And finally, the zig-zag border might be my favorite die, but this is my favorite card in this series. I’m such a sucker for pink anyway. I used this angled border die to create an ombre chevron with Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo, Polished Pink, Melon Mambo, and Real Red. The gorgeous flowers and sentiment are from a new stamp set called Color & Contour. Lastly, be sure to check out this post to see more with this set. You are definitely going to want to add it to your stamp collection!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Don’t forget to PIN all of your favorites for future reference.
