Truly Tailored Simple Masculine Card

Masculine cards always seem to pose a challenge to most card makers, but the new True Gentleman Suite of products makes them so easy!    I absolutely love the masculine patterns in the True Gentleman Designer Series Paper and the color scheme of Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Night of Navy and Tranquil Tide.  For today’s card, I used a mix of patterned papers and paired it with a sentiment from the Truly Tailored stamp set.  This week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches provided the perfect layout!

Here are the card stock/paper measurements I used:

Very Vanilla ~ 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 4-1/4″

Very Vanilla ~ 3-1/4″ x 5-1/2″

Houndstooth Paper ~ 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″

Pipe & Moustache Paper ~ 3″ x 5-1/2″

Scraps of Very Vanilla & Chocolate Chip for die-cutting and stamping

Start by layering the Houndstooth designer series paper over the Very Vanilla card base.  Next layer the Pipe & Moustache designer series paper onto the smaller piece of Very Vanilla card stock, then adhere it to the card front.  You could easily change the patterns to fit a different color scheme by using these same cutting instructions.

For the focal point, I stamped the sentiment on Very Vanilla card stock in Chocolate Chip ink and in Crumb Cake ink.  The Chocolate Chip sentiment was die cut with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I cut the “Dapper” from the Crumb Cake-stamped sentiment and banner-cut the ends before adhering it over the main sentiment.  A Chocolate Chip square was also die cut from the Stitched Shapes Framelits, layered behind the sentiment square, and popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
